I am a Ph.D. Candidate enrolled at the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I'm a qualitative researcher that utilizes in-depth interviews, content analysis, and netnography to answer research questions on topics related to journalism, digital and social media, and social justice with an emphasis on solutions journalism and the anti-human trafficking movement. I am minoring in sociology and am a research assistant for the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts' Civic Readiness Initiative / Public Life Project, and at the Minnesota Journalism Center. I'm an active member of the International Communication Association (ICA) and Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). In addition to my research and teaching experience, I'm a professional/freelance journalist, editor, blogger, and social media strategist. I was employed at Wheaton College from 2012-17 as editor of the award-winning Wheaton magazine, #MyWheaton student and alumni blogs, and as Wheaton's Journalism Certificate coordinator. I write a blog for ChicagoNow on a site called "A Daily Miracle," featuring faith-based posts on various topics. I have published articles on drug and sex trafficking, healthcare, COVID19, faith, arts, culture, politics, media, human trafficking, marketing, entertainment, and missions work. I've also met and interviewed musicians and entertainers including Chris Tomlin, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Chris Cagle, Mac Powell, Kari Jobe, Christy Nockels, David Crowder, Justin Bieber, Pattie Mallette, Kim Walker-Smith, and Nik Wallenda.
