Highlight
Dave has a background in accounting and finance and currently works at Anoka Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College as Director of Budgeting and Forecasting. In this role he has helped the colleges weather the downturn during the recent pandemic which significantly impacted enrollments. He created a 10-year interactive visual model to help educate the cabinet and faculty and staff on the long-term implications of various potential scenarios. Dave chairs the budget committees of both colleges with a goal of transparency and obtaining feedback from all constituent groups to achieve the greatest buy-in. Dave started his now 45+ year career in public accounting before moving on to work in K-12 Education, Higher Education, Legal, Media, and Retail organizations. At the K-12 school, he developed a 5-year model which helped secure board approval and bank financing for a $20 million campus expansion. He served as the project manager and was blessed to complete the capital project on time and on budget. Also at this school, he successfully implemented an HSA health plan through a collaborative process with faculty and staff, resulting in over $200k in annual health cost savings for school and employees. At the MN Art Institute college Dave Implemented a sustainability program, saving thousands annually in food costs and recycling over 12 tons of food waste per year. Dave has been an adjunct instructor at Bethel for ten years, teaching accounting and finance. His goal in all classes is to teach students how to reduce the complex accounting and finance information into a form understandable by non-finance staff, managers and governance members. He believes this is a skill which will benefit any business person in their career. Dave and his wife have five children, all married, and eight grandchildren, ages 6 to 21. They keep us very busy! While it has taken me time to fully develop my God-gifted purpose, after much prayer and reflecting on my work experiences, and in my volunteer work, what God has provided me is a strong passion to help people overcome obstacles. It certainly has served me well and why I enjoy teaching at Bethel now just as much if not more than when I started ten years ago.
