Biography

Jason Harms is a vocalist/guitarist/composer who has performed throughout the country and internationally. His jazz quintet has played in Thailand, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Ireland, London, Scotland, Kosovo, Romania and Poland. One of his more recent projects - "SOUNDSCAPES IN ROMANIA with the JASON HARMS QUINTET (plus four)" - is a soundscape storyboard for iPad which allows you to experience Romania with them as it happened. His recordings include The Land of the Fear of Men and Live in Iasi Romania - The Railroad Concert Hall. He has authored a soul's wrestle, The Affections of the Heart in Art, and one of his larger musical compositions is a 2-hour oratorio - The Ballad of Job - for 22-piece jazz orchestra/6 vocal soloists/1 spoken word poet. His current work-in-progress is a Jazz Western that further explores The Land of the Fear of Men theme scored for jazz orchestra/strings/choir. Harms has been director of the Bethel University Jazz Orchestras since Fall 2001.
