Biography
Gregg Lindberg is the city manager in Burnsville, Minnesota, the ninth largest suburb in the metro area and a connected community providing a variety of services and experiences to more than 64,000 residents, 2700 businesses, thousands of annual visitors, and 400 city staff.
Gregg was appointed city manager in January of 2022 following nearly three years as deputy city manager. He leads with strengths, helping people and teams focus on and maximize what they naturally do best. With an emphasis on taking care of people and building a team culture, Gregg looks to create the kind of experiences where people feel involved in and enthusiastic about their work and workplace. He believes if local government create great experiences in their organization, the team will do the same for the community.
Before Burnsville, Gregg served for 15 years as the human resource manager at Three Rivers Park District, where he transformed culture with the creation of an organizational development function, building a collection of strategic initiatives to improve organizational health and performance and help people and teams be their best.
Gregg earned a master’s degree in public administration from Hamline University in 2013. He also holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership and a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Bethel University. Gregg’s academic foundation equips him with a strong blend of public administration expertise and leadership skills, essential for navigating complex organizational and political dynamics.
Elected in 2013, Gregg served for four years as a city council member in his hometown of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, representing the community and setting city policy that would enhance neighborhoods, support sustainable growth, and prioritize community connection.
Gregg also holds certifications as an international public management association senior certified professional (IPMA-SCP), a society for human resource management senior certified professional (SHRM-SCP), a senior professional in human resources (SPHR), a Gallup certified strengths coach and an intercultural development inventory qualified administrator.
