Outside of Bethel, Professor Kline retired Navy Captain, have served over 23 years as a member of the Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAGC). His career hase included serving as the military legal advisor to (or at) the Office of the Vice President, Camp David, the National Security Agency, the Spanish Ministry of Defense, and Navy Special Warfare. A specialist in international law, he has been stationed with his family in Spain and Japan as well as served as Adjunct Faculty at the United States Naval Academy. Professor Kline currently serves as a Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton.

Biography

Professor Kline currently serves as Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton.

A graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, he obtained a bachelor of arts degree in History and Theology in 1998, with a juris doctor following from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2001.  In early 2002, CAPT Kline arrived at NLSO NC BROFF Earle, NJ as a Criminal Defense and Legal Assistance Counsel.      

CAPT Kline served as the SJA for Navy Information Operations Command Maryland from 2004 to 2007.  During this time, he also served as an Assistant General Counsel for the National Security Agency and an Adjunct Instructor of Law at the United States Naval Academy.

In June 2007, CAPT Kline reported to RLSO NDW as the Deputy SJA.  From late 2007 to mid 2008, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, as the Deputy Chief for Detention Operations, Legal and Judicial Policy, within the Multi-National Force-Iraq, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.  He served as NDW SJA until mid-2009.

From 2009 to 2011, CAPT Kline served as the OIC for RLSO EURAFSWA DET Rota whose AOR includes Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Western Africa.  His primary duties included service as SJA to COMNAVACT Spain and primary Navy legal liaison to the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

In 2012, CAPT Kline earned a master of laws degree in International and Operational Law from the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School at the University of Virginia. While in attendance, the Military Law Review selected two of his articles for publication.

From 2012 to 2014, CAPT Kline served as the SJA for Carrier Strike Group FIFTEEN based at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA. 

He served as the SJA to Commander Navy Recruiting Command from 2014 to 2015 in Millington, TN.

From 2015 to 2017, CAPT Kline served as Executive Officer for RLSO Japan headquartered at Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.

From 2017-2019, CAPT Kline served as Deputy Branch Head for PERS-4416 and the JAGC O-4 Detailer at Naval Personnel Command in Millington, TN.

From 2017-2023, CAPT served as the senior legal advisor for Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

CAPT Kline, JAGC, USN (ret.) is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three Gold stars, the Navy Commendation Medal with two Gold stars, the Navy Achievement Medal with four Gold stars, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award with Oak Leaf cluster, the Navy Meritorious Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Service Medal, and the Global War on Terror Service Medal.
