Amy has a wide range of nursing experience, including surgical intensive care and trauma, medical surgical nursing, and forensic nursing as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. She completed her Ph.D. in Nursing with the dissertation focus on the cultural competence of Baccalaureate nursing students. She previously served on the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Her current research interests include Collaborative Testing, Next Generation NCLEX item writing, and preparing students for safe practice in a post Covid healthcare environment.

Biography

Amy Witt came to Bethel in 2007 and has served as a faculty member in both the CAS and Post Baccalaureate nursing programs. Her teaching focus has been adult medical surgical nursing in the clinical, classroom and laboratory settings. She has a background in trauma intestive care and sexual assault nursing. She received her MSN-Leadership and Management from Metropolitan State University in St, Paul, and her PhD in Nursing from the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her family. She has been married to her college sweetheart, Todd, since 1988, and has two grown children Tori and Rob, as well as three grandchildren.
