Shift for First Year Students

At Bethel, we want the shift to college to be as smooth as possible for our students. That's why we invest in their spiritual growth starting from day one.

Our first year student ministry, called Shift, helps incoming students build community, shift into college life, and learn more about what it means to be Christ's disciple.

Your First Week at Bethel

When first year students arrive for Welcome Week, tons of Bethel students are waiting to help them move in and get settled. All floors have Shift leaders who are part of the move-in team. It's their goal to help each new student feel welcomed and loved.

The whole week is geared toward helping new students come together as a class, get to know one another, and have fun while building relationships.

Building Community on Your Floor

We tend to think of Shift leaders as older, wiser siblings. They're here to love new students and invest in them, as any good sibling should.

Throughout students' first year, Shift leaders serve as mentors-forming relationships and asking the deeper questions of life and faith. They also build community through unique worship experiences, small groups, Bible studies, and more.

Discipleship for Commuters

We have small groups just for commuter students led by Bethel professors and staff. The groups range in activities from book studies to prayer groups to service teams.

Get Involved

If you're a new student, get to know your Shift leader and participate in the community created on your floor.
