- Most students who pursue a Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) intend to continue on to a graduate healthcare program of some kind—whether that’s to become a medical doctor, osteopathic physician, dentist, veterinarian, podiatrist, optometrist, chiropractor, physician assistant, etc. But professional school isn’t the only option! You could also enter the workforce in an adjacent field, from education to clinical research to administrative roles.
- The MSMS mirrors the first year of medical school. Advanced coursework is strategically selected to give you an excellent, focused foundation of learning and ensure you leave Bethel fully equipped for professional-level studies.
- Students must earn an undergraduate degree before pursuing medical school. At Bethel, we have an undergraduate pre-med program that’s a sequence of recommended courses that students in any major can take to set themselves up for success on the MCAT and in their professional-level studies. The M.S. in Medical Sciences is a one-year, graduate-level program designed for those who already have an undergraduate degree but want an additional credential and more advanced, focused coursework to set them up for success on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and during the med school application process.
- This program includes 42 credits, divided into two semesters and a short summer term. Most students can finish in as few as 11 months. Cohorts run from August to the following June and January to December.

Applicants to the M.S. in Medical Sciences program at Bethel University must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale on the highest degree completed
- Have completed the following courses with at least a B- grade: biology (8 credits with lab), psychology (3 credits), general chemistry (8 credits with lab), organic chemistry (8 credits with lab) OR one semester of organic chemistry and one semester of biochemistry, physics (8 credits with lab); and statistics (3 credits)
As part of the application process for this program, you’ll be asked to submit recommendation letters, a statement of purpose, a resume, proof of language proficiency (if English is not your primary language), and transcripts from past institutions. - Bethel University’s Master of Arts in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program is designed to give students a competitive advantage as they pursue professional-level medical studies. Coursework includes Anatomy, Embryology, and Imaging; Medical Biochemistry I and II; Physiology I and II; Histology and Cell Biology; Health Disparities; Medical Microbiology; Medical Neuroscience; and Medical Ethics.
