Welcome to Bethel University!

We’re excited you have joined our community, and we look forward to partnering with you in your journey at Bethel.

Our On-boarding Program involves several separate, yet interconnected experiential components, including many face-to-face events, workshops, and gatherings, as well as some online trainings. These resources are designed to help you transition more easily into your new role at Bethel.

We know the next year is going to be full of "firsts." Our Royal Launch is just the first step of your employment journey at Bethel.

You should have already received your launch packet with a few forms to get you started on your first day. We included a welcome video in this packet, but if you have not yet watched it, before moving on to the Royal Beginnings component, please watch our welcome video from President Ross Allen.

Your first week of employment at Bethel is your Royal BeginningsThis week is full of welcomes, introductions, and overviews.

You'll have the opportunity to spend time with one of our People and Culture team members who will provide a Benefits Orientation and assists you with your employment paperwork. They will also provides an introduction to MyBethel (employee portal), Strengths@Bethel, the On-boarding Program, and The Bethel Distinction (pdf). However, your first few days on the job at Bethel will be primarily reserved for department training and orientation. Departmental managers and colleagues provide the best resources for you to understand your function and role within the department and the greater organization.

 

Within in your first month at Bethel, we want to help you achieve some of the basics. This includes some required online training and starting your Strengths journey. Let's get started!

Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment (Title IX) & Racial and Ethnic Harassment Training

All employees are required to complete our online Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment (Title IX) and Racial and Ethnic Harassment training. To complete the required trainings, go to Moodle and login with your Bethel username and password. Once logged in, click on the links for the trainings located in the My Courses drop down menu in the upper left-hand corner. Then follow the instructions provided. These are due within 30 days of your date of hire. Following your intial hire, this training must be completed regularly. You can review information on our People and Culture website under Complaints and Concerns. All policies are accessible through this website. 

Information Security Training

All employees are required to complete our online Information Security Training. This training is meant to help educate staff and faculty on the many risks that using technology inherently brings to the University. To complete the required training, go to Moodle and login with your Bethel username and password. Once logged in, click on the link for the training located in the My Courses drop down menu in the upper left-hand corner. Then follow the instructions provided. These are due within 30 days of your date of hire. Following your intial hire, this training must be completed annually. 

Strengths@Bethel

We are a Strengths-based organization. As a new employee we want to help you learn more about who you are and help you develop the natural talents the Lord has given you. Jump on over to our Strengths@Bethel to learn more about next steps in Strengths development and to complete a Strengths evaluation so we know where to begin your development.

Royal Core Meetings are the heart of our On-boarding Program where we dive deeper into our seven core values and learn about different offices and departments at Bethel, what they do, and how they live out The Bethel Distinction. Royal Core Meetings are 60-minute workshops presented monthly during the academic year from 11:00 a.m - noon. The schedule is as follows:

November: Character-Builders presented by Facilities Management & Informational Technology Services

March:  Salt & Light presented by University Advancement & Alumni and Family Relations
April:  Reconcilers presented by the Center for Wellbeing

Register for Royal Core Meetings

At Bethel we value building community. Royal Connections offers opportunities for attending workshops and employee events and celebrations with other members of our community. Within the first six months of your On-boarding, you'll attend these two required workshops:

  • Shalom Seminar I: This seminar focuses on our calling to be agents of reconciliation. Reconciliation is a journey of renewed commitments, renewed relationships, and patterns of life where we are transformed in a vision of God's Shalom. Bethel's Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion facilitates this seminar. Someone from their team will connect with you to get you registered for this seminar.

  • Strengths Discovery Workshop:  An introduction to Strengths foundation and concept. You'll learn more about Talent Themes and Strengths and dive deeper into your own Signature Theme Report. If you join us in the summer, we have fun Summer Employee Events and during the Christmas season, we have our annual Christmas Open House along with the Christmas Office Decorating Contest. All provide opportunities for you to meet and mingle with our Bethel Community.
