May 2012: More than 800 students graduate from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Adult & Professional Studies, and Graduate School.
January
Construction begins on an addition and renovations at the Bethel Seminary San Diego campus.
February
Thanks to the work of three College of Arts & Sciences students, congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul speaks to a standing room only crowd at Bethel on February 4.
On February 29, Bethel students participate in Day at the Capitol, visiting legislators in St. Paul to advocate for the Minnesota State Grant Program.
March
Three university administrators travel to China to begin establishing relationships with Chinese universities and to promote the Master of Business Administration program.
April
Bethel welcomes former NFL coach Tony Dungy to campus on April 3 for a presentation geared toward Bethel athletes as well as the university community.
Wayne Roosa is named University Professor of Art, becoming just the fourth faculty member to earn this recognition.
Chris Goldsby ’12 is awarded a Fulbright fellowship for the 2012-13 academic year.
May
The Graduate School announces a new Master of Science in Physician Assistant program to begin in May 2013, pending accreditation approval.
On May 26, more than 800 students from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Adult & Professional Studies, and Graduate School graduate from Bethel University.
June
More than 200 seminary graduates celebrate commencement in June in ceremonies at each of Bethel Seminary’s three locations.
July
Andrew Rock, a gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games, is named head coach of the men’s and women’s track and field program.
August
Bethel welcomes more than 800 new students to campus during Welcome Week.
September
Chad Hoyt, associate professor of physics, receives a National Science Foundation (NSF) research grant of $230,349.
October
Thousands of students, alumni, employees, and friends of Bethel celebrate Homecoming 2012 around the theme “Revitalize.”
November
David K. Clark is named vice president and dean of Bethel Seminary.
December
On November 29 and 30 and December 1, Bethel hosts the 56th Festival of Christmas, Oh How Joyfully! An International Festival.
