Once again, Bethel University will greet visitors at the “Great Minnesota Get Together!” More than 75 Bethel volunteers have been trained and are ready to staff the university’s booth at the Minnesota State Fair. The booth is located on Block 32 in the Education Building just north of the main entrance (MN State Fair map) and will be open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily between August 23 and Labor Day, September 2.
On August 29, Pray First teams from Bethel –students who meet regularly to lift up the praises and needs of our community and the world in prayer – will be at the State Fair from 1-5 p.m. About six students will be available to pray with visitors in the prayer tent. They will also be helping in the children’s ministry area.
On August 30, Bethel journalism professor Phyllis Alsdurf will be the featured author at the Alphabet Forest. She will be working with kids on crafts related to her children's book, "It's Milking Time" (Random House 2012).
Visitors to Bethel’s booth in the Education Building will receive a Bethel core values wristband, available in a set of seven new colors and including one of the university’s core values: Christ-follower, character-builder, truth-seeker, learner, salt and light, reconciler, and world-changer.
Photo Op with President Jay Barnes
Alumni and current students who visit the booth will have the opportunity to get their photo taken with Bethel President Jay Barnes – or at least a reasonable facsimile. A life-sized photo of the president, mounted on wood, will be available again at the Bethel booth along with props and a Bethel University backdrop. Photos sent to news@bethel.edu will be posted on the Bethel University Facebook page and visitors who go to Facebook and “tag” themselves in their picture will be automatically entered in a drawing for Bethel gear.
Alumni Guestbook and Gift
Alumni can show their support of Bethel by signing the Alumni Guestbook. Visitors who sign their names as Bethel alumni will receive a free Bethel lunch tote (while supplies last).
