What happens when you can’t pay your rent? For the characters in The Musical of Musicals, The Musical!, they sing and dance their way to a solution.
The Bethel Theatre summer musical followed a set of characters through four similar sketches, each based on musicals from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. This musical, all about musicals, balanced parody and homage to the genre. Signature lines, lyrics, and melodies from nearly 20 legendary musicals were woven together to form a hilariously unique musical of its own.
The eight-person cast featured current students, alumni, and community members. Meet the cast, hear their highlights, and get a taste of the production in this behind-the-scenes video.
Directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Arts Meg Zauner. Music is by Eric Rockwell, lyrics by Joanne Bogart, and book by Joanne Bogart and Eric Rockwell.
