Three Employees Honored with Core Value Mark of Distinction

Three employees received the Core Value Mark of Distinction in May, an esteemed award that celebrates employees who consistently live out Bethel’s core values, who positively affect department goals, constructively serve the Bethel community, and advance Bethel’s mission and vision.

This spring’s recipients for this nomination-based award are:

Jamie Dolieslager, for being a character-builder

Associate Professor/Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Department of Human Kinetics and Applied Health Science

Chad Osgood, associate professor/head athletic trainer, enthusiastically identified Dolieslager as a character-builder: “Jamie is a clinical preceptor in our athletic training program. In this role, she spends many hours a week mentoring/teaching students how to be Christ-followers in the profession of athletic training. Jamie has been the strongest advocate for wellness with our students. She continually champions for healthy lifestyles and healthy options for our students. She continually strives for our students to grow and develop the strongest Christ-like character. The Human Kinetics and Applied Health Science (HAS) department's mission is to promote health and wellness with an emphasis on prevention; lifelong learning; and the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes, and skills that can be integrated into a holistic lifestyle. I can think of no person who has had a stronger impact in fulfilling this mission than Jamie.”

Matt McKenzie, for being a Christ-follower

Residence Halls Maintenance Service Supervisor in the Office of Facilities Management

Similarly, Peter Carlson ‘10, shared passionately about how McKenzie’s Christ-like, humble leadership continues to affect him: “I have been out of college for several years, but to this day Matt McKenzie is the best supervisor and leader I have had, and I continually look back to working for Matt as a transformational experience because of his leadership, commitment to his faith, and putting those into his work in all he does. Matt’s constant smile, willingness to lend a hand, and humble leadership all impressed me as I was under his direction, and he demonstrated to me a great example of servant leadership. These are why Matt deserves the Christ-follower Core Value Mark of Distinction.”

Matt Neibergall, for being a world-changer

Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry

Ashley Rosenberger, lab and safety coordinator in the Department of Chemistry, joyfully recognized Neibergall as a world-changer. “Matt has gone over and above his call of duty to teach and mentor students. He not only does this with his own students here at Bethel, spending countless hours with his students, but he has taken this teaching capacity outside of Bethel. A specific example of this is how he led and organized the State Science Olympiad tournament here at Bethel this past March. After the tournament, I expected him to take a break and catch up on other work, but he has continued to go into elementary schools to show them chemistry and science, as he cares about the education of not only Bethel students, but future (hopefully) Bethel students.”

A selection committee comprised of five members, representing all schools and various roles within the Bethel community, reviewed the nominations and selected these three individuals.
