Mission Trips

At Bethel, we encourage students to extend service in the name of Jesus and to step into experiences that stretch and reshape their view of God’s world.

Jesus—the Son of God—took on the nature of a servant in human likeness. This is the great cross-cultural move of God. As His followers, Jesus calls us to a similar kind of “cross-over.” On SMP trips, Bethel students cross over and live out their faith in Christ, actively participating in God’s redemptive work in the world.

Bethel sends students to be with, learn from, and serve alongside God’s people—in the U.S. and around the world—through our Solidarity Missions Partnerships (SMP) program. We are grateful for our longstanding partnerships with local churches, mission agencies, and development organizations that make these trips possible.

If you are interested in learning more or joining a team, contact Campus Ministries at campus-ministries@bethel.edu.

Each of our teams varies greatly—from the people who make them up to the communities they visit and the ways they engage those communities. Please take some time to visit the team pages to learn more about each team. Part of the application process will include connecting with team leaders. Use that time to clarify expectations regarding the team.

Donations

A large portion of our mission trip costs are funded by gifts from generous donors.

There are two easy ways to make a donation toward your student’s trip:

  1. Mail in your donation:
    Bethel University Missions

    3900 Bethel Drive #2380
    St. Paul, MN 55112
  2. Drop off donations at the Campus Ministries office.

All checks must be made payable to “Bethel University Missions.” A response card, including the student’s name, must accompany all contributions, including cash donations. Do not write a student's name on the check.

All gifts and donations are tax-deductible and non-refundable. For a contribution to be considered a charitable deduction, all donations must be made to “Bethel University Missions,” not to an individual student. For this reason, individual students’ expected contributions are not tax-deductible.

Any donations that exceed the trip costs will be applied toward the general mission trips program and used to assist future projects.
