How is the license awarded?
Bethel recommends students for licensure, which is awarded by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) after the completion all Bethel requirements, plus:
- Minnesota Teaching Licensure Exam (MLTE)
- Application
- edTPA
- Basic Skills Exam
- Note: Although beneficial to complete now, the Basic Skills test is only required for a Tier 4 license
Program completion over the past few years is consistently over 90% and is usually closer to 100%.
MTLE pedagogy passing rates for Bethel students who complete the program are consistently 97% to 100%.
Licensure and Accreditation
- Bethel’s Teaching License program has approval through Minnesota’s Professional Education Licensing Standards Board (PELSB).
- Student teaching courses are required to be taken at Bethel.
- Bethel University cannot confirm whether courses or programs meet requirements for professional licensure in states outside of Minnesota. Students should contact their program's licensing bureau to determine whether Bethel's program meets requirements for licensure in their state.
