Campus and building access

Building Access

Safety & Security administrates electronic access and entry schedules for buildings on campus.

  • During Public Access Hours, buildings are open to the public.
  • During Community Access Hours, buildings and offices are secured, but current students and employees in good standing may access spaces for which they have prior authorization, either by ID card or brass key.
    • See ID Cards for more on campus ID cards and access.

Campus Access

Our Saint Paul campus is closed from 9:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m. daily. During this time, all traffic is restricted to the West Gate entry, and only current students, employees, and their visitors are authorized to enter campus. Unregistered visitors will not be allowed to enter campus.

See visitors for more information or to register a guest.

Crimes and reporting

Incident and crime reporting

Community members should report incidents such as theft, property damage, or intimidation to Safety and Security. Reports can be made in person, via email, or by phone, in addition to the crime report below.

Personal identifying information is encouraged so that officers can provide direct follow up, though reports may be submitted anonymously.

Report an incident

Campus crime statistics

This report contains information for our community, including how to report a crime, mandates for reporting crimes, and preventative programs hosted by our community.

Daily crime log

A daily crime log is maintained to demonstrate an up-to-date list of incidents and their dispositions. A copy can be requested directly from the Safety and Security Office.

CSA crime reporting

Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) are required by law to report any Clery crime to the Safety and Security office as soon as possible. CSAs are encouraged to include personal identifying information of a victim for follow up and to ensure duplicate reporting does not occur. All personal identifying information is kept private and not publically available. Safety and Security also uses CSA reports to determine whether incidents demonstrate a serious or continuing threat which necessitate a timely warning or other university action.

For more information on crime reporting, statistics, the Annual Safety Report, and CSA reporting, see Clery Act and Crime Reporting
