Biblical & Theological Studies
Learning Opportunities

In any major or minor in the biblical and theological studies department, you’ll have numerous opportunities to apply what you’re learning, conduct research, and gain ministry-related experience. It’s all part of how we equip you with skills that transfer to any career.
And you’ll be able to get involved right away. Bethel’s size and vibrant community present opportunities for you to get involved from your first day on campus.
Study abroad
Bring Scripture and theology to life by experiencing first-hand ways to live out your faith in the midst of a broken world by studying in places like Israel, Turkey, Greece, Ireland, or Cambodia. You’ll have opportunities to study abroad over a full semester, January, spring break, or summer.
Internships
Apply what you learn through strong internships. You’ll have access to a wide variety of leadership roles at local churches, nonprofits, and ministry sites; chaplaincy roles in hospitals, military settings, and prisons; and teaching positions at Christian schools or educational ministries.
Service learning
Bethel partners with churches, mission agencies, and nonprofits worldwide to give you opportunities to serve and learn from others through the Solidarity Missions Partnerships (SMP) program. You can lead a small group, be a mentor, participate in mission trips, get involved in Twin Cities Outreach, and more through Campus Ministries.
Faculty partnership
Our professors are respected scholars, speakers, and writers. Our small class sizes allow you to know them, be mentored by them, and collaborate with them on significant research projects like the Green Scholars Initiative, through which you and a faculty member research a biblical text artifact.
Interdisciplinary studies
The biblical and theological studies majors offer the flexibility to add a second major or a minor giving you a chance to broaden your impact and pursue unique vocational opportunities that align with your passions and calling. Degrees in psychology, education, business, communication studies, and social work pair well with biblical and theological studies.
Biblical languages
You’ll have the opportunity to study Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic—then deepen your understanding of these languages by studying abroad in places like Israel, Turkey, and Greece. These experiences will enhance your exegetical skills for interpreting scripture.

Get involved across campus
At Bethel, your opportunities aren’t limited to your major or department. You’ll be able to explore a wide range of interests, from worship to music to intramural sports and beyond.
