Hands-on learning is at the core of all our majors and minors.

In Bethel’s psychological sciences programs, you’ll have numerous opportunities to apply what you’re learning, conduct research, and gain experience. It’s all part of how we equip you with skills that transfer to any career.

And you’ll be able to get involved right away. Bethel’s size and vibrant community present opportunities for you to get involved from your first day on campus.

Study abroad

In the psychological sciences department, you’ll have the opportunity to study in an international setting through the Office of International and Off-Campus Programs and our partner organizations over a full semester, January session, or summer. For example, you can study the European pioneers of psychology while immersing yourself in the culture of the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, and France.

Student organizations

Participate in Psych Club with your peers, incorporating classroom learning with relevant social and cultural experiences and activities.

Internships

You’ll apply what you’ve learned and gain valuable experience by participating in a required internship at a local counseling practice, hospital, ministry, or other setting related to your interests. Internships offer invaluable opportunities for you to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application. You can connect classroom learning with real-world scenarios, gaining insights into career preferences and enhancing your understanding of professional dynamics. And internships often serve as pathways to employment.

Psychological sciences majors dive into the professional world through a required senior-year internship. You'll work a minimum of 60 hours in an approved setting, paired with the 2-credit PSY493: Psychology Internship and Seminar course. This hands-on experience, combined with reflective seminar discussions, ensures you’re ready to apply your knowledge and skills in meaningful, impactful ways.

If you have further questions about the psychology internship process or need additional help, please contact Rachel Young, psychology department coordinator, at r-young@bethel.edu.

Get involved across campus
