United Cultures of Bethel
Bethel University Student Government
United Cultures of Bethel exists to support students in their cultural identities, enrich cultural sensitivity, and encourage students to celebrate the gift of diversity under Christ.
Our mission
The mission of United Cultures of Bethel (UCB) is to provide an accessible community for students on campus to celebrate cultural, racial, and ethnic differences.
We achieve our mission by offering:
- Campus-wide events
- Off-campus events and field trips
- Weekly subgroups
Subgroups
Asian Student Alliance (A.S.A.)
Directors: Jane You and Spencer Vang
Mission
To foster a supportive and inclusive community where Pan-Asian students can express their cultural values, create positive identity formation, and ensure their voices are heard.
Vision and Goals
- Build stronger relationships among Asian students on and across campuses.
- Encourage connections between Asian students, staff, and faculty.
- Learn about unique Asian cultures and traditions through local community engagement and service.
- Educate the Bethel community about the diverse Asian ethnicities represented on campus.
Acasă
Directors: Tiara Lamb and Hudson Parker
Mission
Acasă is a subgroup of UCB designed for white/European American students to learn more about their own culture while discovering their role in cultivating God’s Kingdom on earth—people of all tongues, tribes, and nations living in harmony, as referenced in Revelation 7:9, Matthew 6:10, and Psalm 139:14.
We aim to understand how our identities fit into the broader picture, acknowledging the challenges they create as we engage in social change, and learning how to authentically operate in solidarity with those who identify as racially, ethnically, and/or culturally different from us.
Voz Latinx
Directors: Ileene Amayarapalo and Max Lopez
Mission
We are committed to fostering community and inclusion among Latinx students, enhancing their visibility, support, and positive identity on campus.
Vision and Goals
- Provide a space for students to share their voices and stories.
- Foster safe and supportive conversations among peers.
- Create an environment where we collectively explore and embrace our Hispanic or Latinx identities.
- Engage with local communities through events and service opportunities.
Black Student Union (B.S.U.)
Directors: Jesica Amegatse and Dai'Veoni' Ellis
Mission
BSU seeks to grow our community by breaking down barriers to social comfort, creating a positive environment, and fostering growth within our community. We want everyone to have a voice, and as leaders, we are here to listen, hold important conversations, develop new ideas, and provide a space where everyone feels heard and known. Our leadership is rooted in prioritizing Christ first, embodying servant leadership for our community.
Multi
Director: Josiah Dudenhofer
Mission
We are a family of multi-ethnic individuals seeking to be a light for Christ as we discover how our uniqueness enhances Bethel University and our larger community.
Vision and Goals
- Provide an intentional space for mixed students to discuss and explore their identity.
- Discuss what it is like to be mixed at Bethel and how that impacts students’ spiritual, emotional, and physical growth.
First Nations
Director: Devanie Andre
First Nations is a subgroup for Native/Indigenous individuals. Our goal is to continue fostering allyship with Native/Indigenous communities by utilizing the resources and networks we have through UCB.
