The Clinical Phase
The PA clinical phase directly follows the didactic phase and is 12 months in length. The clinical phase takes place at diverse training sites and consists of a wide range of clinical learning situations.
The mandatory clinical rotations include:
- Family Medicine
- Internal Medicine
- Emergency Medicine
- General Surgery
- Pediatrics
- Women’s Health
- Behavioral Health
Students will also complete elective rotations, which can be in any medical specialty as approved by the program.
Student Rotation Manuals
Each clinical rotation has a manual containing learning outcomes for each specialty. It is the student’s responsibility to discuss their required outcomes and experiences with their preceptors, and the Director of Clinical Education is available to answer questions from preceptors regarding these outcomes.
Links to these manuals can be found on the Forms and Documents page.
Student Credentialing Information
Bethel University PA students undergo extensive health screening and hospital training for addressing compliance issues with state and federal guidelines. The training and screening include HIPAA training, immunization verification to include Hepatitis B, current annual TB skin test, and recent criminal background check and drug screen. Once a student is confirmed to rotate with a preceptor site, proof of this information is provided from the program and the student.
