Accessing Your Grades

You can access and print out your grades anytime through MyBethel by accessing your unofficial transcript. Our grading system converts your letter grades to grade points. If you're curious about what your GPA might be depending on what you're expecting for grades, we've put together a few resources to help you out.

Good Academic Standing

Check your academic catalog to see what qualifies as good academic standing for your school or to learn more about Bethel’s grading system.

Releasing Grades to Parents or Family Members

Your grades are protected under Bethel's confidentiality policy and are only available to you. If you’d like to release your grades and academic status to a parent, guardian, or spouse, please complete a release form.

Incomplete Grades

Undergrad Policy

You have 8 weeks into the next semester (fall or spring) to complete the required work for an Incomplete (I or IN). An Incomplete grade will change to a "U" or an "F" or the grade designated by the instructor at the end of the eight weeks.

Adult Undergraduate Policy

The maximum deadline the instructor may assign for the removal of the I or IN grade is three months from the last class session. Students with multiple grades of I or IN may be required to withdraw from their original cohorts and finish their program with another cohort after all grades of I or IN have been resolved.

Incompletes in practicums may be handled differently. See the catalog for details.

Graduate School Policy

The maximum deadline the instructor can assign for the removal of the I or IN grade is six months from the end of the course. Assignment of the maximum deadline or an earlier deadline is at the discretion of the instructor. Students with multiple grades of I or IN may be required to withdraw from their original cohorts and finish their program with another cohort after all grades of I or IN have been resolved.

Incompletes in doctoral individualized projects, internships, or practicums may be handled differently. See the catalog for details.

Seminary Policy

The date for completion of the work will be determined by the instructor, but that date cannot extend beyond one semester. If the work is not completed by the specified date, the grade earned will be entered on the student’s record. Special problems regarding a student’s eligibility to receive the Incomplete will be referred to the Academic Appeals Committee.

For Independent Studies, Thesis Projects, and Clinical Pastoral Education, the grade of Incomplete will be awarded automatically at the end of the first term to allow two semesters for completion of the course.

The grade of Incomplete may also be awarded for Professional Internship to allow one year maximum extension.

If you see "IP" or "NR" listed for a course, the grade is either In Process or was Not Reported. Contact your instructor for the status of the grade.

Changing Grades

If you have a question about your grade, first contact your instructor. If you’re unable to contact your instructor, contact the head of the academic department. If your question is not resolved, you can appeal. Please contact the Registrar or consult the catalog for further instructions. If a grade change is warranted, the instructor or department will notify the Registrar's office.

Repeating Courses

When you repeat a course, the grade and credits for the earlier course(s) are excluded from your GPA. If the repeated course is taken at Bethel, the new grade and credits are included in the GPA. If the repeated course is taken at a different institution, the new grade and credits are not included in the GPA. Grades for all courses remain on your transcript.
