Major/Minor Image

Bethel’s B.A. in Music program gives you the flexibility to pursue your passion in music in addition to other fields of study. Many of our students double major in such areas as psychology, business, and biblical studies. This degree will prepare you for success in a variety of careers.

Why should I study music?

When you major in music, you’ll gain a unique set of skills that will prepare you to enter a wide range of careers. As a musician, you’ll learn how to collaborate and contribute with excellence as a member of a team. In our program you’ll present under pressure, a valuable skill to have in many fields, and hone your ability to quickly process information using multiple senses. In addition, you’ll grow as a musical leader who can perform, conduct, and critically judge music.

What can I do with this degree?

Students specialize in voice, music composition, or instrument of choice and give a recital at the end of the program. Our students go on to pursue a variety of careers, including:

  • Musical arts administrator
  • Composer
  • Accompanist
  • Audio production
  • Professional performer
  • Church musician/worship leader
  • Private lesson instructor

What unique experiences or opportunities will I have?

Collaboration with Faculty: Work one-on-one with your professors to hone technical skills and collaborate on research and performances.

Musical Tours: Participate in a music group that travels across the United States and abroad. Previous locations have included Singapore, Malaysia, Poland, Sweden, France, and more.

Festival of Christmas: Multiple music groups participate in this popular, large musical festival every year. You’ll perform in Benson Great Hall, a premier performance venue with over 1,700 seats.
