Amount
Several scholarships up to $5,000 are offered to deserving incoming students planning to pursue a primary major in the Department of Physics and Engineering at Bethel starting in the fall of 2025.
Renewal
These scholarships are not renewable. However, the department does have additional scholarships designed for continuing students after completion of the first year.
Eligibility
At the time Bethel reviews the student's admission portfolio, scholarship applicants must:- be U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- be high school seniors during the 2024-2025 school year
- have an unweighted high school grade point average of at least 3.50 (4.0 scale)
Although there is no ACT or SAT score requirement, the strength of the application will be greatly enhanced by a good ACT or SAT score. Strength of the application will be greatly enhanced by attending one of the visit and interview events hosted by the department.
Please note—the B.S. in Software Engineering is not an eligible program for this scholarship.
Academic requirements
- Scholarship recipients must enroll at Bethel in the fall of 2025, majoring in an eligible physics or engineering program.
- Recipients of the first-year Bethel Physics and Engineering Program Scholarship will be considered for Bethel's Academic Achievements Scholarship, other merit scholarships and need-based grants.
- Recipients must be enrolled at least half-time in courses required for graduation, be in good standing, and be working toward their first bachelor's degree. Scholarships will be pro-rated for less than full time.
Deadline
February 15, 2025
Initial scholarship offers will be made by March 1, 2025.
How to apply
Interested students who meet the scholarship eligibility requirements will be asked to complete the following when applying for the Bethel Physics and Engineering Program Scholarship.
- Apply for admission to Bethel University.
- Submit the Bethel Physics and Engineering Program Scholarship Application, which will ask for the following elements:
- List of all the science and mathematics courses (not listed on your current transcript) that you will complete before you graduate from high school.
- Explain what appeals to you about Bethel’s physics and engineering programs.
- Provide the name, email address, and discipline of a teacher who would provide a letter of recommendation for you if you are selected as a finalist. Only finalists will have their reference contacted.
- Upload a resume.
