Post-Baccalaureate Nursing (BSN)
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is intended to prepare students to take the NCLEX licensure exam to become Registered Nurses. This program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. First time RN licensing is referred to as licensure by examination. Every state requires students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), after they have completed their registered nursing educational requirements. Minnesota is not currently a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC); however, many surrounding states are a part of NLC. Under the NLC, nurses can practice in other NLC states without having to obtain additional licenses.
Per the U.S. Department of Education Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), we have determined that our curriculum meets educational requirements for becoming licensed as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota. Please refer to the full list of determinations regarding all fifty states as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands for anyone wishing to become a U.S. Registered Nurse.
Questions about licensure?
Be sure to check with the appropriate licensing agency in your state to verify requirements prior to beginning any course of study. Check requirements regularly as they may change. Additional information about Nursing licensure may also be found through organizations such as the National Council fo State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
