The internship must be congruent with the purposes of the student’s degree. Therefore, any internship role, regardless of the site, must provide opportunity for Christian leadership or service. The internship site must:

• provide adequate supervision
• provide experiences of sufficient substance, responsibility, and challenge to serve as an adequate basis for personal and professional development
• provide adequate opportunity to explore the breadth of the student’s target profession/vocation
• Students pursuing a call to chaplaincy may use ACPE-approved Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) as their internship site and experience

A student may use his or her current employment as an internship site so long as the site conforms to the criteria listed above.
